I want a society where every child benefits from outstanding state education, from early years onwards.

That’s why I oppose the continuing Tory plan for a National Funding Formula which will impose funding cuts of at least £5.1 million on local state schools.

These cuts will fall at a time when pressure on school places is ramping up higher than ever and schools across Brentford, Isleworth and Chiswick will lose out yet again.

To succeed as a country, we need to invest in excellent local state schools , attract and retain high quality teachers and provide opportunities in apprenticeships and further education for all our young people when they leave school.

The alternative under the Conservatives is a return to the failed grammar schools of the past and yet more cuts to state schools locally. Children, no matter where they live, deserve better and need the very best start they can get in life.

I am committed to doing all I can to defend our schools in this community and to make sure Tories’ swingeing education cuts are stopped.
